The Story

When Earth is invaded by a terrifying alien race known as the Goblins—black-skinned creatures with glowing blue plasma running along their bodies—humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. Logan, a master thief serving time in prison, is given a chance at redemption: join the military’s desperate counteroffensive and help strike at the heart of the invasion.

As Logan and his team battle through a fortified goblin stronghold and embark on a final, harrowing assault on the organic alien mothership orbiting Earth, they encounter dangers far beyond imagination. But as they venture deeper into enemy territory, the looming threat of betrayal from within their own ranks grows. Hidden agendas, traitors, and ancient dark forces threaten not only their mission but the future of humanity itself.

Chapter Excerpt

Captain Moggs couldn’t believe they were actually going through with this. A light breeze carried a chill, causing the sweat on Moggs’s undergarments to cool uncomfortably. Yet, Major Custer, his companion, seemed oblivious to the cold. It was clear to Moggs that Custer’s thoughts were consumed with something far more pressing—revenge.

Moggs was pressed up next to Custer in the tight foxhole, making the already dire situation even more uncomfortable. The foxhole had been hastily constructed, with small boards wedged into the dirt to hold the earth in place and create a makeshift barrier against the detection of their body heat. Moonlight filtered down through the opening of the hole, casting long shadows and highlighting their isolation and the profound sense of desperation Moggs felt inside.

He squirmed, trying to keep his muscles from tensing up. His chiseled face was screwed up in an uncharacteristic scowl, and his head ached from the tragic events that had brought them here, which replayed over and over again in his mind like a bad dream. Trying to refocus on the task at hand, he removed his combat helmet to run his hand through his sweat-soaked crop of red hair.

“Are you sure the goblin tanks will come down this road?” Moggs asked, wincing at how loud his voice sounded in the quiet of the desert. Continue reading

Introduction

Zero Hour was the first novel I ever wrote, and as such it holds a special place in my heart. While I tinkered with writing stories as a teenager, I just couldn't ever get anything to stick. However, during my two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I had plenty of time to think during the quiet evenings before bed. I remember daydreaming and sketching notes in my pad, which eventually led to me coming up with the ending of what would become Zero Hour. With an ending in place, I finally felt confident I could write the complete story.

I resolved that upon returning home, I would begin writing books, starting with Zero Hour. While I won't detail the entire process here, it was a lengthy journey, especially since I was learning as I went. But through plenty of trial and error, I finally succeeded. Though thrilled with the results, I found myself uncertain about the next steps. I made some attempts to find a literary agent, but when no one showed interest, the book languished and became something only members of my family ended up reading.

Fast forward ten years, and I'm now happily married with a baby boy. While I never completely abandoned writing, it definitely took a back seat for many years. But now I'm diving back in, and releasing a new edition of Zero Hour is just the beginning. With a newly formatted manuscript and brand spanking new cover art, Zero Hour is ready to be released back into the world!
