Year In Review 2024
As 2025 begins, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible journey that was 2024. It’s been a whirlwind year filled with creativity, collaboration, and meaningful progress in my writing. From making significant updates to my online presence to publishing passion projects and republishing cherished favorites, the past year has been all about laying a strong foundation for the future.
To capture the progress and milestones of 2024, I wanted to take a moment to put everything into words—a way to acknowledge the past year’s accomplishments while preparing for the opportunities and challenges that 2025 will bring.
Revamping My Website and Blog
This past year, I’ve been busy giving my website and blog a much-needed makeover. I wanted a digital home that not only supports my book releases and blogging for years to come but also looks sleek and professional.
For a long time, I blogged on Medium, which was incredibly rewarding and educational. However, I never felt like I fully owned the material I was writing. I’d always dreamed of having my own website, so after extensive research, I discovered Ghost.io. Ghost’s themes are not only beautiful and minimalistic, but the platform also includes a built-in newsletter feature, allowing me to send out emails to subscribers whenever I post.
After months of work, I’m thrilled to announce that my blog is fully updated and ready to go! It’s a space I’m proud to call my digital home.
Updates to SeegmillerPublishing.com
In addition to revamping my blog, I’ve been collaborating with my brothers, Nate and Sam, on a new venture: Seegmiller Publishing. While not an official company yet, we’re pooling our resources to promote and encourage our writing journeys.
SeegmillerPublishing.com currently showcases my books and short stories alongside Nate’s alien invasion series, The Owen Rockwell Series. It’s incredibly exciting to see all of our books together in one place, and we hope to expand the collection even further this year.
Publishing The Good Story
One of my most fulfilling projects this year was publishing The Good Story. Several years ago, I had the idea of combining the four Gospels of the New Testament into one cohesive narrative, weaving together the elements from each into a unified story. As with many great ideas, it became clear that I should be the one to bring it to life.
With the support and patience of my then-pregnant wife, I began diving into this project. Creating The Good Story was less about writing and more about editing, but I underestimated the complexity of splitting the different Gospel elements and then finding ways to merge them seamlessly.
The final result turned out beautifully, in my opinion. I find myself rereading the story of Christ’s arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection and marveling at how much more impactful it feels to experience it as a single, unified narrative.
The Good Story
"The Good Story" weaves the four gospels into a singular, immersive narrative, inviting readers to experience the life, teachings, and profound love of Jesus Christ in a fresh and transformative way.
Republishing The Bloodstrayne
The second book I ever wrote was The Bloodstrayne. The concept originated one night with the image of a black fog blanketing the land, transforming anything within it into a vampire-like creature that couldn’t leave the fog. If anyone ventured in, they’d either meet a grisly end or become one of the creatures themselves.
This book was a challenge to write because it centered around a conspiracy that the characters were unaware of. Keeping track of what the characters knew while ensuring the conspiratorial elements remained consistent without prematurely revealing the plot twists was far trickier than I’d anticipated.
Like my first novel, this book languished after completion. My attempts to secure an agent or publisher didn’t pan out — though, to be fair, I didn’t try very hard. Exhausted from multiple drafts and edits, I put the novel aside.
This year, however, I’ve streamlined my self-publishing process and rekindled my passion for writing. I decided to republish my earlier works, including Zero Hour and The Bloodstrayne, while making some lighter updates to White Serpent. Clearing out this backlog has reinvigorated me to focus on creating new material in the coming year.
The Bloodstrayne
In a world consumed by the corrupting Haze, blind orphan Dominic uncovers a connection to the mysterious Bloodstrayne lineage and must master newfound abilities to confront ancient conspiracies and save humanity from destruction.
Looking Ahead
Moving into 2025 and looking back at 2024, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. From exploring new story ideas to collaborating further with my brothers, the possibilities feel endless. My journey as a writer has had its ups and downs, but this year has reminded me of the joy and purpose that storytelling brings. Here’s to 2025 being even more creative and productive!
